Twisted Logic
Twisted Logic
Year: 2019
Twisted Logic focused on bronze statuary; taking as its central theme the historical fact that bronze art works were often melted down to create weapons and armour. The artist’s body becomes the ‘material’ for the sculptural works through direct silicon moulding and casting in bronze; the effect creates an amalgam of vulnerability and strength that highlights the body ‘within’ conflict. The sculptures in “Twisted Logic” exist in a suspended state between forming and un-forming; some appear to melt while others morph into ambiguous objects. The intention of the work is to place the viewer in a space that embodies a transformative process that suggests both destructive and creative forces. Twisted Logic suggests that art can be created or destroyed depending on political regimes.
